Celebrity Feuds We Didn't See Coming
As much as we’d all like to deny it, celebrity feuds are captivating. There’s just something about A-list beefs that lure us in.
And while some quarrels are expected—like Nicki Minaj and Latto, others seem to surprise us, like Ariana Grande and Piers Morgan.
Here’s 28 legendary Hollywood rivalries that do not disappoint.
Freddie Prinze Jr. vs. Kiefer Sutherland
Back in July 2014, Freddie Prinze Jr. made a nasty comment about Kiefer Sutherland, calling his former 24 costar, “the most unprofessional dude in the world.”
He even went on to elaborate: "That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face, I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."

Believe it or not, Sutherland has nothing but nice things to say about Prinze Jr. According to his rep, “Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie's grievances.”
They went on to say, “Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best.”
George Clooney vs. Russell Crowe
The prior year, George Clooney spoke up about Russell Crowe’s apology to him for “insulting the S out of him.”
Apparently, Crowe called Clooney a “sellout” in an interview. Clooney clapped back with a passive aggressive and sarcastic public response—which only escalated things.

Crowe took it to the next level, saying “Who does this guy think he is? He’s a Frank Sinatra wannabe,” except with more colorful language.
Eventually a peace offering was made by Crowe, where he claimed to be misquoted about it all.
Clooney’s response? “Yeah, yeah. Whatever.”
Kanye West vs. Jimmy Kimmel
Around the same time, Kanye admitted he “took it back to high school for a little bit” with Jimmy Kimmel.
In an aggressive (and very public) Twitter rant, West trashed the late-night comedian for spoofing an interview of his.
West then took it to the extreme when he took over Jimmy Kimmel Live to address the feud—with an audience.

Kanye West vs. Jimmy Kimmel
Kimmel was caught off guard—but remained professional. The two were able to hash it out right then with Kimmel even saying, “I don't know if you know this, a lot of people think you're a jerk.”
The feud simmered itself down, and neither holds a grudge.
Anjelica Huston vs. Jacki Weaver
In 2019, Jacki Weaver slammed Anjelica Huston in an interview when talking about her latest project, Poms—a film about retired women who forms a cheerleading squad.
Huston had trivialized the plot, saying, “An old-lady cheerleader movie. I don’t like that kind of thing. If I’m going to be an old lady — and I’m sort of touching old lady these days — at least I want to be a special old lady.”
Weaver’s reaction was exactly what we expected it to be.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Weaver said she was “kind of disappointed” by Huston. But quickly reported, “I just laughed. And then I said, ‘Well, she can go screw herself” – again, we’ve dulled down the language here.

Ariana Grande vs. Piers Morgan
Ariana Grande—and her mom—suddenly had beef with Piers Morgan after he criticized Ellen DeGeneres and Little Mix online.
Morgan’s tweet said “Ellen drooling today over famous men’s bodies on #InternationalMensDay2018. Yet I’ve been called out all day for complimenting @hollywills on her legs.”
The next day he criticized British girl group Little Mix, accusing them of ripping off a Dixie Chicks song—and that’s when Grande’s mom chimed in.
Ariana Grande vs. Piers Morgan
Grande’s mom clapped back at Piers saying, “Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it!”
This sparked a back-and-forth war of words that eventually included Grande herself. Piers passively aggressively defending his disgust for women using nudity to sell records, and Grande defended her feminist rights.
The feud may have eventually died down, but the animosity remains.
Henry Winkler vs. Tom Hanks
Apparently these two have had a decades long feud that began way back in 1989 on the set of Turner & Hooch.
And while the two of them have never come right out and said it, they’ve hinted at it many times.
Henry Winkler told People in 1993, “Let’s just say I got along better with Hooch than I did with Turner.”
So, what did Tom Hanks have to say about it all?

Tom Hanks has remained tight-lipped about the entire feud. He has neither confirmed or denied the animosity between the two of them.
Winkler even went on to say it again in another interview in 2019, claiming he got along great…with the dog. He recently spoke about it again in 2024, finally giving an explanation for what started the feud—which basically was nothing more than sour moods on set.

Leonard Nimoy vs. William Shatner
Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner starred opposite each other in Star Trek: The Original Series, playing James T. Kirk and Spock, respectively. And although their egos clashed on set, they were pretty good friends for almost five decades.
That is, until Nimoy cut off all communication with Shatner in the last five years of his life.

Nimoy, who died in 2015, had often told Shatner he was going to cut him off, but Shatner never believed him. Then one day, he did it. He simply stopped talking to him.
Shatner remains adamant that he has no idea why. But maybe that's not the truth. Nimoy’s son claims he knows why, but prefers to “let sleeping dogs lie.”
Britney Spears vs. Alyssa Milano
By now, we’re all aware of Britney Spears’ struggles over the years. Well, in 2022 after returning to Instagram after a brief hiatus, Spears posted some questionable videos, prompting Alyssa Milano to tweet, “Someone please go check on Britney Spears.”
One month later, Britney finally addressed Milano, calling her out for something unexpected.

Spears didn’t take well to Milano’s concerns. In fact, she understood the post to be bullying, and addressed Milano by saying, “It saddens me to see things about me from people who don’t know me!!!”
She then added, ““This definitely feels like a form of bullying!!! Ladies, we are supposed to be rooting for one another not pulling one another down!!!”
Milano left it at that.
Hilarie Burton Morgan vs. Candace Cameron Bure
Just after leaving Hallmark and making her first Christmas movie with Great American Media, Candace Cameron Bure made headlines after saying that her new network would “keep traditional marriage at the core.”
Hilarie Burton Morgan—who appeared in several Hallmark movies as well—slammed back with fury.

In a series of social media posts, Burton Morgan went off on Camerion Bure. "Bigot. I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank."
Cameron Bure replied two days later, without addressing Burton Morgan specifically: “All of you who know me, know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone.”
Matthew Perry vs. Keanu Reeves
Shortly after Matthew Perry’s memoir was released in 2022, he made headlines for excerpts where he questioned why Keanu Reeves “still walks among us” when actors like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger have died.
This undoubtably did not sit well, and Perry got backlash from all directions.

Apparently, Reeves thought the comments “came out of left field,” but, in true Keanu fashion, didn’t do anything in response to them.
Perry later apologized saying that he was actually a “big fan of Keanu” and that he simply chose a “random name.”

Nicki Minaj vs. Latto
In 2022, a Twitter argument took place between female rappers Nicki Minaj and Latto.
Minaj tweeted her disapproval of not being considered for any rap categories for the Grammys. She said if her song “Super Freaky Girl” wasn’t in consideration than neither should Latto’s song “Big Energy.”

Latto responded shortly after, saying, “Damn I can’t win for losing… all these awards/noms I can’t even celebrate… Ur literally older than my mom tryna be a bully @NICKIMINAJ.”

Doja Cat vs. Noah Schnapp
Doja Cat publicly called out Noah Schnapp for his “borderline snake behavior” after Schnapp publicly posted a private conversation the two had about Cat’s crush on Schnapp’s costar, Joseph Quinn.
She called him out for being young and dumb, and then went on to attack his social skills.

Cat wrote: “To be fair, this is like a kid. Noah, I don't know how old he is, but he's not even like over 21. When you're that young, you make mistakes, you do dumb stuff. I'm trying to be super fair. But the fact that Noah did that, like, went and posted a private conversation between me and him is so unbelievably, like, socially unaware and whack.”
As far as we know, Schnapp didn’t respond.

Jimmy Kimmel vs. Marjorie Taylor Greene
During an April 2022 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Jimmy Kimmel himself questioned the far-right politician’s opinions while taking about the Supreme Court nominations.
He said, “This woman, Klan mom, is especially upset with the three Republican senators who said they’ll vote yes on Ketanji Brown Jackson, who’s nominated for the Supreme Court.”
Marjorie Taylor Greene was quick with a response.

Greene’s response to Kimmel was topical: “Where is Will Smith when you really need him?”
As funny as that is, she goes on to say she reported “this threat of violence” to the Capitol Police, and Kimmel’s reply was even better: “Officer? I would like to report a joke.”
The feud then died down as quickly as it started.
Will Smith vs. Chris Rock
Surely, you’ve heard of this one. But if you didn’t, at the 2022 Oscars, Will Smith suddenly walked up on stage and slapped Chris Rock hard across the face, leaving Rock completely stunned.
Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife bald head—and Will instantly took matters into his own hands…literally.

Later, Smith made numerous public apologies, not just to Rock but to the Academy, his fellow nominees, and so on. “Love will make you do crazy things,” he said.
Eventually the story died down—but whether or not the two have reconciled is unknown.

Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee vs. Nick Lachey
Controversial Love is Blind contestant, Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee got into a heated argument with Nick Lachey on the season 2 reunion episode when he was called out for putting too much importance on physical appearance.
Shake quickly responded that it was “nature” and “we’re animals,” to which Lachey then said, “No, you treat animals. We’re human beings. There’s a big difference.”
But it didn’t end there.

After the episode aired, Shake took it a step further.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, he went on to say, “You put a doctor on the show, of course you were going to see some critical thinking. Speaking of which, @nicklachey you’re a massive [blank] for your comment dragging vets. You do realize that becoming a veterinarian is considerably more difficult than becoming a human doc right?”
He continued on with his rant calling the other contestants’ puppets. Lachey didn’t even bother responding.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas vs. Rosie O’Donnell
In 2022, Rosie O’Donnell publicly apologized to Priyanka Chopra Jonas in a TikTok video for an “awkward” restaurant run-in where she mistakenly assumed that Chopra Jonas’ dad was author Deepak Chopra.
O’Donnell’s video had her saying, “I just want to apologize to her and to everyone who thought it was really inappropriate of me. Sorry. Sometimes I mess up. Nick Jonas, I apologize and to the Chopra wife, I apologize too.”
However, Chopra Jonas was not so forgiving.

Chopra Jonas clapped back in her Instagram stories, asking O’Donnell to “take the time to Google her name” next time, or “reach out directly” before publicly apologizing.
She also specifically addressed O’Donnell’s choice of words in her apology, stating “We ALL deserve to be respected for our unique individuality and not to be referred to as ‘someone’ or ‘wife’ especially in a sincere apology.”
Vin Diesel vs. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson
Back in 2016, The Rock started a years-long feud with his The Fate of the Furious costar when he referred to unnamed male costars as “candy behinds” (except with a more vibrant word, of course.)
And even though he didn’t use Vin Diesel’s name specifically, Diesel took it personally and he certainly had lots to say.

Diesel quickly replied, “Honestly, give me a second and I will tell you everything. Everything.”
While he doesn’t actually go on to say much more, the other costars admitted there was some friendly rivalry between the two and there wasn’t much more to it than that.
By 2019, the two had seemingly squashed their beef.
Chrissy Teigen vs. Alison Roman
In 2020, Alison Roman made headlines for her controversial remarks about Chrissy Tiegen’s growing cookbook and cookware empire.
She implied that Tiegen was a sellout. But before Tiegen could respond, Twitter responded for her.

Roman was almost instantly widely slammed on Twitter from various people and fans. She ended up writing out two lengthy apologies, to both Tiegen and Marie Kondo, whom she also spoke poorly about.
Roman’s apology included comments like, “It was stupid, careless and insensitive. I need to learn, and respect, the difference between being unfiltered and honest vs. being uneducated and flippant.
Mason Disick vs. Jeffree Star
In 2020, ten-year-old Mason Disick—son of socialite Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, called YouTube Personality Jeffree Star “spoiled AF.”
The beauty guru quickly replied with an epic response.

Jeffree Star posted in a now-deleted tweet, “I had $500 in my bank account six years ago. Maybe he’s confused with his own privilege versus mine being self-made, hopefully his father can educate him soon!”
50 Cent vs. Lala Kent And Randall Emmett
In 2019, 50 Cent called Lala Kent a bade name when she revealed that her boyfriend Randall Emmett bought her a Range Rover after the first time they slept together.
50 Cent’s name calling quickly started a Twitter feud that escalated into a demand for money.

During the internet brawl, 50 Cent demanded that Emmett—a fellow producer on the Starz series Power, pay him $1 million that he apparently owed him.
How did they end it? Emmett paid up. And 50 dropped the feud.

Chelsea Handler vs. Angelina Jolie
Chelsea Handler has openly criticized Angelina Jolie many times over the years, calling her a “home wrecker” in 2010 and saying she “seemed like a demon” in 2013.
But in 2016, amid Jolie’s divorce from Brad Pitt, Handler said Jolie “married a lunatic." For the most part, Jolie let all of that slide. Then in 2019, things took a turn.

By 2019, Handler seemingly gave up her nasty act. She finally told Andy Cohen that was “upset for being so upset with Angelina Jolie,” and that she realizes now that Jolie is “probably just trying to do her best too.”
Debra Messing vs. Susan Sarandon
Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon had already duked it out on Twitter in 2016 throughout the presidential election, but once again, in 2018, they started up again.
Sarandon commented that Donald Trump “indirectly inspired women and people of color to run for office.” Messing did not like that comment at all and fired back in all caps.

Messing quickly posted, “Oh yes, PLEASE let’s give Trump CREDIT.”
Sarandon then wrote back, “Debs, before you get yourself all self-righteous try clicking on the video and listening to what I actually say.”
Nothing was seen after that.
Kim Kardashian vs. Tyson Beckford
Back in 2018, Tyson Beckford shamed Kim Kardashian on Instagram, calling her body “not real” and speculating that a doctor had “messed up on her right hip.”
Kardashian’s response was both epic, and controversial.

However, she then landed in hot water with fans and had to address accusations that her clapback was homophobic.
Jane Fonda vs. Megyn Kelly
On a 2017 episode of Megyn Kelly Today, Megyn Kelly awkwardly asked Jane Fonda about her plastic surgery, making Fonda feel uncomfortable.
Later, Fonda referenced the exchange on Today when Lily Tomlin joked about Fonda’s “first face-lift”, to which Fonda replied, “Who are you, Megyn Kelly?”

Neil Patrick Harris vs. James Woods
Neil Patrick Harris and James Woods clashed back in 2017 after Woods posted a photo of a couple with their young, “gender creative” son at a Pride celebration. He then went on to say the boy would grow up to be a killer.
Patrick Harris undoubtably had much to say on the matter.

He started with, “Utterly ignorant and classless, Mr. Woods.” And then went on to say, “I’m friends with this family. You know not of what you speak, and should be ashamed of yourself.”
However, Woods wasn’t finished.
The Shark alum responded, writing, “Using one’s child as a social justice propaganda doll is tantamount to child abuse. This is not about homophobia. Nice try though.”

Chloe Grace Moretz vs. Kim Kardashian
Chloe Grace Moretz commented on Kim Kardashian’s tendency to post unclothed selfies online, saying she hopes Kardashian “realizes how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies.”
Kardashian lashed out in response.

Miley Cyrus vs. Nicki Minaj
Nicki Minaj called out Miley Cyrus live on stage at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards after Cyrus criticized Minaj’s “not-so-nice” comments about Taylor Swift.
In an effort to cause public humiliation, Minaj made a passive-aggressive introduction to Cyrus.

While introducing Cyrus on stage, Minaj apparently said, “And now back to this B that had a lot to say about me in the press…Miley, what’s good?”
Cyrus professionally continued on.

Howard Stern vs. Lena Dunham
Howard Stern had some choice words for Lena Dunham and her HBO Show, Girls. On his radio show in 2013, he said, “It’s a little fat girl who kinda looks like Jonah Hill and she keeps taking her clothes off and it kind of feels like [a violation] … I don’t want to see that.”
Lena Dunham’s response was surprising.

Although Stern later apologized for his comment, Dunham called into his show and simply said, “I’m not that fat, Howard.”
