Major Superheroes Who Still Don’t Have Their Own Movie

The Superhero-Verse

With the onslaught of superhero movies over the last two decades, it might seem, to some, like there are no more superheroes to make movies about. But as comic book fans know, there are a whole lot out there—and what we've gotten so far is just the tip of the superhero iceberg. Now, with the understanding that this can change quickly as they continue to pump out super-movies, as we stand here today in the back half of 2024, these are the superheroes who still don't have their own movie...yet.

Sentry (Marvel)

Sentry is kind of like a Marvel Superman, but with a much darker morality. There have been rumors flying around that Sentry will appear in the 2025 Thunderbolts movie (played by Steven Yeun), so we could be seeing the character on the big screen sooner than later. But will he ever get his own movie?

Martian Manhunter (DC)

Every member of the Justice League has had their own movie except Martian Manhunter. He did appear in the terrible 1997 TV movie, Justice League of America, and very briefly in Zack Snyder's Justice League, but that's it. Hopefully, with the full reboot of the DCU, it's only a matter of time before we get a Martian Manhunter film.

Cyborg (DC)

Another superhero that we got a glimpse of in Zack Snyder's Justice League is Cyborg. It was a pretty cool look that only whet our appetites for more of the character—and, turns out, there was a Cyborg DCEU movie in the works before the whole DCEU collapsed. Maybe in the reboot?

Power Pack (Marvel)

The Power Pack is a superhero team made up of four pre-teen siblings. Back in 2004 when Marvel took out a $525 million loan to make films, they put up 10 of their characters as collateral, including: Captain America, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and The Power Pack. Of those 10, only The Power Pack haven't gotten a movie yet.

Nova (Marvel)

MCU fans might remember the intergalactic police force Nova Corps being introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy. But the Nova character has yet to be seen on the big screen.

Miles Morales (Marvel)

A relatively new character—Miles Morales—was only created a little over 10 years ago. But in that short time, he's become a fan favorite, thanks in no small part to the incredible animated Spider-Verse films. It's time to get Miles into the live action game.

Green Arrow (DC)

We've had our fill of Green Arrow on the small screen. First, Justin Hartley took on the role in the Smallville series. Then, it was Stephen Amell's turn in Arrow. As for the big screen, there was talk of Charlie Hunnam being Green Arrow in the movies, but he turned it down.

Silver Surfer (Marvel)

He did appear in two Fantastic Four movies back when Fox had the rights to the characters, and as recently as 2018, there was talk of Fox giving the metallic-skinned humanoid his own movie. But it didn't happen before the rights transferred over to Disney in 2019. Later that year, reports surfaced about Disney's plans for a Silver Surfer film. So, fingers crossed.

Scarlet Witch (Marvel)

Here's another superhero who has made their mark as a secondary character in the movies but has yet to get her own film. That's something that is looking less and less likely with Elizabeth Olsen—who played her—talking about wanting to move away from the MCU. Not to mention the fact that Scarlet Witch was killed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Zatanna (DC)

Super magician Zatanna has shown up in various properties in the DC Animated Universe, but on the live action big screen front, fans still haven't had the pleasure. Although, it hasn't been for a lack of trying. In fact, since 2005, there have been three projects that would've had Zatanna as a secondary or even lead character. The projects had some big names behind them, including Guillermo del Toro for one of them. But in the end, they all fell through and we are still waiting.

Hawkeye (Marvel)

For a guy whose only superpower is being really awesome at archery, Hawkeye has actually done really well for himself in the MCU with a number of supporting roles in films and his own TV series. Most people feel that the odds are stacked against him ever getting a top-billed Hawkeye movie, though.

Plastic Man (DC)

We'd maybe understand if this was 30 years ago and the special effects weren't up to the task of Plastic Man's rubbery superpowers. However, these days, that is no longer an excuse for this super fun character to be without his own movie. Let's all hope that the rumors of a Darren Aronofsky Plastic Man film are true.

Those “Family Feud” kisses made Richard Dawson a TV icon. But behind the kisses were childhood loss, ego, guilt, and a serious illness he kept secret.

On Family Feud, Richard Dawson felt different from every other game show host on television. He leaned in. He joked quietly. He made contestants feel seen. The kisses, the suits, the confidence—it all suggested ease and control. What audiences couldn’t see was how much of that ease was carefully constructed, and what it was covering.

Modern Sci-Fi TV Shows You Didn’t Realize Were Rip-Offs Of Shows From The 60s And 70s

Science fiction didn’t suddenly get smart in the streaming era. Long before prestige budgets and moody synth scores, TV writers in the 60s and 70s were already wrestling with identity, free will, surveillance, and the quiet terror of technology. Today’s “original” sci-fi often feels fresh—but only because it’s standing on some very old shoulders.

Post-Grunge Songs That Were Actually Good

Post-grunge is one of those genres people love to roast… right up until one of its biggest songs comes on and they suddenly know every word. At its best, post-grunge delivered the kind of songs that felt like emotional release valves, built for blasting in the car, screaming at a concert, or surviving your early-2000s heartbreak with dignity (or at least volume). These are the tracks that defined that sound.
