What Are You Watching This Christmas?
The holidays are a magical time filled with warmth, love and traditions. Watching movies with those that you love is, of course, one of the best traditions of all. Whether you are looking for something new to enjoy, or want to fall back on the classics, Netflix has you covered with some fantastically festive films for everyone.
Single All The Way
This quirky, and wholesome twist on a classic trope will be warming everybody’s hearts this holiday season. Tired of eternally being the “single one” within his family, Peter convinces his best friend, Nick, to pretend to be his date for the holidays. I think we all know how this one is going to end, don’t we?
Klaus
A new animated classic to add to the holiday list, Klaus is a film that the entire family can enjoy. What is more Christmas than using gift giving to heal the wounds of a community? A Christmas origin story, Klaus will warm your heart just in time for the big day.
A Christmas Prince
There’s a reason that everyone loves the “hallmark” style movie: there is something comforting in knowing that no matter the drama, everything will turn out alright in the end. In this Netflix take on the classic trope, Rose McIver (CBS Ghosts) is a reporter who goes undercover to get the scoop on the playboy prince. Of course, all that she finds in the end is love, and two more movies to enjoy when you’re done.
A Bad Moms Christmas
Look, sometimes you just aren’t in the mood for cutesy or pure. Sometimes you want a little bit more fun with your Christmas jingle. That’s why A Bad Moms Christmas is a go-to for any viewer who enjoys things with a rougher edge. Still wholesome and full of Christmas warmth, A Bad Mom’s Christmas just gives you permission to not be perfect this holiday.
Falling For Christmas
Lindsey Lohan may have had some hard times. However, who hasn’t? That has only made us love her all the more. In this comeback movie, Lohan takes on Christmas with all of the charm and grace that she had been known for in her earlier films. Fall in love all over again with Falling for Christmas.
The Christmas Chronicles
Every child everywhere has dreamt of it: It’s Christmas eve and there is only one thing that you want—you want to catch Santa Claus. However, for Kate and Teddy Pierce, this time-honored tradition of children everywhere turns into an unforgettable adventure, and perhaps, saving the day just in time for Christmas.
The Merry Gentlemen
Releasing on November 20th of this year, The Merry Gentleman is the perfect Christmas movie for all of you Magic Mike fans. Featuring heartthrob Chad Michael Murray and Britt Robertson, the movie leads Ashley (Robertson) and Luke (Murray) set out to save Ashley’s family business, just in time for Christmas.
The Princess Switch
If you grew up in the early to mid-2000s, then Vanessa Hudgeons is a household name—for perfectly good reason. In this play on the classic “switching places” trop, a Chicago baker gets the change of a lifetime, switching places with the prince’s fiancé… who looks just like her. Twice the Vanessa Hudgeons, where could you go wrong?
The Grinch (2018)
You can’t deny that the Grinch is a classic Christmas figure. After all, this is the third movie to have been made about him. This 2018 animation takes a whole new take on the Grinch that we know, letting a whole new generation of children fall in love with him as he sets out to steal Christmas.
Holidate
It’s a tale as old as time—when two single people decide to pretend to date each other, in order to avoid looking tragically single in front of their family, they will, inevitably, fall in love. Even if we know exactly how this is going to end, we are all here to enjoy the journey that takes us there along the way.
The Noel Diary
Staring This Is Us’s Justin Hartley (Kevin Pearson), The Noel Diaries follows the story of a man who is forced to return home on Christmas in order to settle his estranged mother’s estate. Only, he discovers a diary that not only reveals secrets to his own past, but entwins his journey with that of a beautiful young woman. Anyone else swooning yet?
Trailer Park Boys Christmas Special
So, The Trailer Park Boys may not be known for “wholesome” or “heartwarming”, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t get to celebrate Christmas too. This Christmas special is full of all of the things that made Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles household names—it’s the ideal special for people who are looking for things a little more ‘trailer park’ this season.

Enjoy it with hot chocolate and your family this Christmas eve—I know I will.

Another classic story trope brought to life perfectly by, you guessed it, Vanessa Hudgeons. This time, she is dealing with a medieval knight who has magically transported to present day America. Will he help her with her disillusionment about love? Well, you can watch and find out.
Meet Me Next Christmas
Love sometimes means sacrifice. It also sometimes means attempting to defeat next to impossible tasks. In this fun holiday romp, it means that Layla has to race through New York City trying to get tickets to a sold-out Christmas concert so that she can get her dream romance with her dream man.
Crown For Christmas
So, Allie loses her job as a maid in New York City. What is she to do? Well, accept a temporary gig as a governess to a young girl in a powerful European family, of course. Did I mention that the family lives in a castle? I think we all know how this is going to end for Allie, but we enjoy watching it anyway.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
This is one of my personal Christmas classics and it is one that everyone needs to watch. Expanding upon the basic story outlined in Dr Seuss’s original How the Grinch Stole Christmas, this movie shows Jim Carrey at his finest, teaching us all a little about the meaning of Christmas.
The Snow Sister
The Snow Sister explores a very common facet of Christmas that not all of us want to face. Sometimes, unfortunately, grief is also a part of our holiday celebrations. For a young boy who has just lost his sister, it feels as if Christmas has been canceled… until he meets a mysterious girl who shows him that maybe there’s still room for Christmas. The Snow Sister premiers on November 29th.

Family Switch
Family can be difficult. As much as Christmas pulls us together, it can also highlight the strains that already exist. Playing off the themes of Freaky Friday, the Walker family learn a valuable lesson about walking in each other’s shoes just before Christmas.

It’s not easy being an elf—when it seems like it’s all work and no play, you can forget what Christmas is really about. When a jaded and overworked elf runs away, he relearns the magic of Christmas through the eyes of a young boy.
Just Another Christmas
Not everyone loves Christmas. It’s a good thing that it only happens once a year… unless you’re trapped in a time loop that forces you to relive Christmas over and over. In this film, a family man who hates the holidays learns the lessons of what’s important about life, as he’s forced to live through Christmas constantly, never getting a single break.
Yoh! Christmas

Operation Christmas Drop

The dreaded holiday newsletter causes strain in some old friendships in this fun holiday romp that questions the ways that we compare ourselves to others. With humor and hijinks, these families will learn where their values really lie.
Holiday In The Wild
If movies have taught us anything, it’s that when you are jilted by your partner just before a trip, this is exactly when you are going to discover all of the things that are missing in your life. It’s possible that’s exactly what Kate discovers when her husband jilts her before their holiday safari. You’ll have to watch to find out.
Hot Frosty
Okay, we know that this one seems like a bit of a long shot, but sometimes, you just have to try something a little different. A widow brings a snow man to life, and through his innocence about the world, she finds love once more. If you’re not sold by that, how about it starring Schitt’s Creek’s Dustin Mulligan and Mean Girls’ Lacey Chabert? Or maybe you just want to see that one hilariously outrageous scene that has everyone else losing it? Either way, it's worth a watch.
