2024's Brat summer was iconic, to say the least. This year, the 31st Billboard Music Awards took place on December 12, giving us some names for our playlist upgrade. New artists and old came together to make it one to remember.
Taylor Swift
Swift collected around 10 awards at the 2024 ceremony, which brought her a total of 49 Billboard Music Awards, starting off with Top Artist. She now holds the record solo after beating the previous tie she had with Drake, who has 42 awards after the event.

On receiving these awards, she said, "Billboard is counting what you're listening to... I count these as fan-voted awards". Some of her notable wins include Top Billboard Global 200 Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album for The Tortured Poets Department.

Chappell Roan
This was Roan's first time being nominated and winning Top New Artist at Billboard. See how quickly she's making a name for herself in the music scene. Although she was not present at the ceremony, Roan delivered a heartfelt pre-taped acceptance speech.

She even mentioned the confusion around being titled a "new" artist, given her years of work leading up to her breakout moment with The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Roan has also received six Grammy nominations for the upcoming ceremony in 2025.
Morgan Wallen
In 2023, Wallen's song "Last Night" became his first #1 single on the Hot 100. Wallen rightly won four awards at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards for Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, and Top Country Male Artist.

He also bagged an award for Top Collaboration for his song "I Had Some Help" featuring Post Malone. With these wins, Wallen's total at the Billboard Music Awards has hit 19, putting him just one award away from breaking Garth Brooks' record.
Fuerza Regida
Fuerza Regida was awarded Top Duo/Group and Top Latin Duo/Group. It was a double victory for them due to their prominence in both mainstream and Latin music scenes. Their famous tracks are "Sigo Aventando," "Bebe Dame," and "Pero No Te Enamores".

The band played at the awards show and rocked their hits "Pero No Te Enamores" and "Nel". Fuerza Regida was formed in 2015 in San Bernardino, California, initially starting as a cover band. The incredible lead vocalist for the band is Jesús Ortíz Paz.
SZA
SZA's success on the radio has been driven by hits such as "Kill Bill," "Snooze," and collaborations like "Rich Baby Daddy" with Drake. These have dominated airplay and other streaming platforms. Her real name is Solana Imani Rowe, and she debuted in 2017.

The singer also became the first woman to win the Top R&B Artist award more than once, having also won in 2023. It was her first studio album, Ctrl (2017), that established her as a prominent figure in R&B. SOS (2022) topped the Billboard 200 for ten non-consecutive weeks.
Jack Antonoff
This is (surprisingly) the first time Antonoff has snagged the title of Top Hot 100 Producer, wrapping up 2024 with 31 production credits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the eligibility period. People consider his success to be attributed to his work with well-known artists.
Shaboozey
In addition to being the Top Song Sales Artist, Shaboozey also won Top Selling Song and Top Country Song for his hit "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," which spent an impressive nineteen weeks at the forefront of the Billboard Hot 100. Shaboozey's first album was Lady Wrangler (2018).
Tommy Richman
This was the rising star's first nomination and win as the Top R&B Male Artist at the Billboard Music Awards. He won the award against artists like Brent Faiyaz and The Weeknd. Apart from this, Richman also won Top R&B Song for his hit "Million Dollar Baby".
Bad Bunny
Bunny scooped the award for Top Latin Artist—his fifth consecutive win in this category. He also tied with other artists for a total of three awards during the ceremony. Throughout his career, he has accumulated 184 wins from 481 nominations, including three Grammy Awards.

Adding to this are twelve Latin Grammy Awards, ten Billboard Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards. This man gained popularity by posting music on SoundCloud. His song "Diles" was liked by producer DJ Luian, leading to his signing with Hear This Music (2016).
Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick has received multiple Billboard Music Awards throughout his career, including wins for Top Rap Album and Top Streaming Songs Artist. He was awarded for "Not Like Us" to be the Top Rap Song this time. In 2024, Kendrick released his sixth studio album, GNX.
Zach Bryan
This singer was nominated for 21 awards and won five, including Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Songwriter, and Top Country Artist. His collaboration with Kacey Musgraves on "I Remember Everything" also won him the Top Country Song.
Drake
As a highly acclaimed Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter, Drake took it all. He bagged the awards for Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Album for For All the Dogs, and Top Rap Male Artist. His first-ever mixtape, Room for Improvement, was released by him in 2006.

Drake snagged this award, beating out some big names like Kendrick Lamar, Future, Metro Boomin, and Travis Scott. Amidst all the rumors and theories, this is something that will change the air around his name.
Bruno Mars
In December 2024, Bruno Mars became the first artist in Spotify history to surpass 140 million monthly listeners. The mighty award of Top R&B Touting Artist underscores Mars's status as one of the highest-grossing touring artists in the R&B category.
Doja Cat
Top Rap Female Artist, Doja Cat, won this accolade as well as the one for Top Rap Song. She was nominated for two songs, "Agora Hills" and "Paint the Town Red". She also picked up the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Kiss Me More".

"Paint the Town Red" was ultimately seen as her award-worthy song. The song was co-written by Doja Cat, along with Earl On The Beat, Jean-Baptiste, Karl Rubin, and Ryan 'DJ Replay' Buendia. It was officially out for the audience on August 4, 2023.
Travis Scott
Here comes our Top Rap Touring Artist. Travis Scott. Did you know that his stage name combines the name of his favorite uncle with the first name of his musical inspiration, Scott Mescudi? Apparently, Scott began his music career by forming The Graduates.
Beyoncé
A special one indeed, as Beyoncé scored her first win in the country music category for Cowboy Carter, making her the first Black woman to take home a country award at the Billboard Music Awards. Also, her album Cowboy Carter recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The Red Clay Strays
The Red Clay Strays made a name for themselves by beating out big names like Old Dominion and Brooks & Dunn. While they are categorized as a country duo, The Red Clay Strays describe their sound as influenced more by early rock than traditional country music.
Linkin Park
Linkin Park performed their new single "The Emptiness Machine" during the awards ceremony. The performance featured Mike Shinoda alongside new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong. That evening, they brought home two awards, one for Top Rock Group and another for Top Hard Rock Artist.
Coldplay
It was definitely "A Sky Full of Stars," as this band won the Top Rock Touring Artist honor. They also won the fan-voted award for Favorite Tour in 2024, receiving 53.86% of the votes and beating out notable artists like Taylor Swift and Metallica.
Karol G
Karol G received the Top Latin Female Artist prize, marking her third consecutive win in this category. She also won the Tour Of The Year award, which proved her popularity in live performances. Karol G has a total of five Billboard Music Awards to her name.
Luis Miguel
Some of this guy's most famous songs are "La Incondicional," "Ahora Te Puedes Marchar," "No Sé Tú," and "La Media Vuelta". He won the Top Latin Touring Artist award. Miguel is known for his high-grossing tours, especially his Amarte Es Un Placer Tour (1999-2000).
Jung Kook
As a Top K-pop album, Golden is Jung Kook's first Billboard-winning album. Songs like "3D" (feat. Jack Harlow) and "Closer to You" (feat. Major Lazer) are quite popular. An award for "Standing Next to You" as Top Global K-Pop Song, was also handed to him.
Charli XCX
This singer won the Top Dance/Electronic Artist award for Brat. Brat was released on June 7, 2024, and runs for approximately 41 minutes and 23 seconds. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. It was Charlie XCX's highest debut on this chart.
Elevation Worship
Elevation Worship's "Can You Imagine" was named the Top Christian Album of the year. Their album topped the Billboard charts, spending 14 weeks at No. 1. It features eight tracks and collaborations with Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, and Chris Brown.

"Praise" received the award as the ultimate Top Christian Song. It was sung by Elevation Worship, featuring those above three. The song was also number one on the US Hot Christian Songs chart and reached 5th on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
CeCe Winans
CeCe Winans won the prestigious Top Gospel Artist and Top Gospel Song award for 2024. "That's My King," the winning masterpiece, falls within the gospel and Christian music genres. The song was co-written by CeCe Winans herself and released in 2024.
Maverick City Music, Chandler Moore & Naomi Raine
The 3 won the Top Gospel Album recognition for their album The Maverick Way Complete: Complete Vol. 02. The album was released on November 11, 2023, with a collection of worship songs. Alongside them, Kirk Franklin's "Father's Day" and Koryn Hawthorne's "On God" were also nominated.
Tyla
This is our Top Afrobeats Artist and the Top Afrobeat Song winner ("Water"), Tyla. "Water" reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. At the Grammy Awards, this viral song even achieved the inaugural Best African Music Performance recognition.
Dua Lipa
Of course, you've moved to the beats of "Houdini". Lipa took home the music award for Top Dance/Electronic Song for this one. She performed "Houdini" live for the first time earlier in 2024 at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards in a fiery performance.
Teddy Swims
Swims won the Top Hot 100 Song award for "Lose Control". It is a major milestone in his career. He also received the Top Radio Song award. During the awards ceremony, Teddy Swims delivered a powerful performance of the song his latest single, "Bad Dreams".
Zach Bryan ft. Kacey Musgraves
The single "I Remember Everything" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Both artists were praised for their contribution and awarded the Top Streaming Song and Top Rock Song at the function. It was released as part of Bryan's self-titled album in 2023.
Post Malone ft. Morgan Wallen
A better collaboration than this? I doubt it. "I Had Some Help" is a collaborative single by Post Malone featuring Morgan Wallen that was released in 2024. The duo won the award for Top Collaboration for the same single, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Benson Boone
Top Billboard Global 200 Song and Top Billboard Global (Excl. US) Song for "Beautiful Things" were both given to the legendary Boone. He had participated in Season 19 of American Idol, advancing to Hollywood Week. Then came his first song, "Ghost Town".
Falling In Reverse ft. Jelly Roll
At the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, the collaboration "All My Life" by Falling In Reverse and Jelly Roll won an award for Top Hard Rock Song. "All My Life" debuted at number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stood at number 5 on the US Rock Airplay chart.
FloyyMenor & Cris MJ
"Gata Only" is the first song by a Chilean artist in 25 years to achieve such recognition at the Billboard Music Awards. As the Top Latin Song, "Gata Only" won this honor. The song was released in February 2024 as the lead single from FloyyMenor's debut EP, El Comienzo.
