Is Your Favorite Netflix Show Coming Back?
As a public service to all the other Netflix-obsessed users out there, here are some shows that will be getting another season and some that won't. While some might be ending of their own volition, we have classified them all under "canceled"—because, in the end, what really matters is whether or not it's coming back. Right? Also, a few of these announcements might've taken place in 2023, but we've added them here in case you missed the good—or bad—news.
RENEWED: Emily In Paris
Emily will be back in Paris (or should we say Rome) for a fifth season.
CANCELED: Arcane: League Of Legends
Yes, this adult animated action series has been canceled. But, only after season 2—which is set to drop on the streamer in November 2024.
RENEWED: 3 Body Problem
The guys who brought Game of Thrones to HBO moved on to Netflix and delivered 3 Body Problem in 2024. The series has already been renewed for a second and third season.
CANCELED: Big Mouth
This critically-acclaimed adult-animated series from the mind of Nick Kroll (among others) is one of the longest-running original scripted series Netflix has ever produced. It will get an eighth season, airing in 2025, but that will be its last.
RENEWED: Berlin
While this prequel to the great Spanish heist series, Money Heist, might not have been as great as the OG show, Berlin is a lot of fun and there will be more intricately-planned heisting going on in season 2.
CANCELED: The Brothers Sun
If you hadn't heard the news already, this one is going to hurt. The Brothers Sun was one of the better Netflix series to drop all year. It was a legit hit early in 2024—and with Brad Falchuk behind it and Michelle Yeoh starring, it looked primed to get a second season. But alas, no.
RENEWED: Black Mirror
The Twilight Zone-inspired anthology series will be back in 2025 with season 7.
CANCELED: Cobra Kai
Don't crane kick the messenger here. But while the end is near for Cobra Kai—it isn't that near just yet. There will be a sixth, and final, season to air in three parts. The first part dropped back in July, the second is coming in November, and part three will be available some time in 2025.
RENEWED: The Diplomat
This smart political thriller, starring Keri Russell, will release season 2 on Halloween.
CANCELED: Stranger Things
Okay, so "canceled" is probably not the right word here. Let's just say Stranger Things is ending—after the fifth season drops in 2025, though. As the Duffer brothers wrote in a letter to fans a couple years ago, "Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things...At the time, we predicted the story would last four or five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but—as you'll soon see for yourselves—we are now hurtling toward our finale".
RENEWED: FUBAR
This Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer is renewed for a second season (insert your own "I'll be back" joke here).
CANCELED: Invisible City
This Brazilian fantasy series was released in February of 2021 and two years later, in March of 2023, season 2 hit the streamer. There isn't going to be a season 3.
RENEWED: The Gentlemen
Guy Ritchie's series spin-off of his 2019 movie of the same name will be back for a second season.
CANCELED: Sweet Tooth
This wonderfully-odd, critically-acclaimed fantasy drama series aired its third—and final—season in June of 2024.
RENEWED: Sweet Magnolias
This romantic drama series has spent three seasons following the lives and loves of "three South Carolina women, best friends since childhood, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family". And they will be doing it for at least one more season.
CANCELED: The Umbrella Academy
We hope you were satisfied with how season 4 of The Umbrella Academy ended. Because that was the last one.
RENEWED: Virgin River
A 10-episode sixth season is on the way.
CANCELED: Vikings: Valhalla
The third season of this sequel to Vikings landed in July of 2024. There will be no season 4.
RENEWED: The Witcher
Big news, The Witcher fans. Not only is there going to be a fourth season, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia, but the series has already been renewed for a fifth season as well—although that will be its last.
CANCELED: You
The sad news is that You is ending. The good news is that it is only ending after the fifth season—which wrapped up filming in August of 2024.
RENEWED: Supacell
The story of the five Black people in South London—with family histories of sickle cell disease—who all develop super powers will continue its fun, thrilling, and original storytelling in season 2.
CANCELED: Mo
This comedy-drama won the Breakthrough Series (Under 40 Minutes) award at the 2022 Gotham Awards, and it got a second season from Netflix. But once that airs, that's it for Mo.
RENEWED: Monster
From the uber-prolific Ryan Murphy comes Monster. The first season of the anthology series, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, was a monster (pun intended) hit for Netflix. But not only did they green light a season 2—Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, which just dropped—there is already a season three in the works, which will star Charlie Hunnam as Ed Gein (the Butcher of Plainfield).
CANCELED: Elite
The Spanish teen drama dropped its eighth season in July of 2024—and that was its last.
RENEWED: Ginny & Georgia
When season 2 of Ginny & Georgia ended, were you so hoping there would be a season 3? Well, guess what—not only is there going to be a season 3, the show was renewed for a season 4 as well.
CANCELED: In From The Cold
A divorced mother, an ex-Russian spy, and the CIA... sounds good, don't it? Well, good or not, Netflix said no to a second season.
RENEWED: Heartstopper
Heartstopper will keep beating for at least a third season (set to drop in early October of 2024).
CANCELED: Buying Beverly Hills
Netflix decided not to buy anymore Buying Beverly Hills after season 2.
RENEWED: The Night Agent
Between March and June 2023, The Night Agent was the most watched Netflix original. It's no wonder the show was almost immediately renewed for a second season.
CANCELED: My Dad The Bounty Hunter
This animated sci-fi action series got two good seasons—but there won't be a third.
RENEWED: One Piece
There will be more fantasy, adventure, and pirates in season 2 (which started filming in June 2024).
CANCELED: Everything Now
There had been some work done on developing a second season of the series, but despite that fact, Netflix said one was enough for Everything Now.
RENEWED: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Netflix's live-action take on the much-loved animated series made a splash on the service in February of 2024. And while reviews were mixed, it was only a month later that the announcement was made that the series had been renewed for a second and third season.
CANCELED: Barbarians
Given that season 2 was released on Netflix in October of 2022 you might've assumed that it had been canceled. Well, in March of 2024, that assumption was made official.
RENEWED: All Of Us Are Dead
Okay, so you might've heard that this one was renewed back in 2022. We just wanted to mention it here because it looks like season 2 will finally drop in 2025.
CANCELED: Ratched
Netflix made an initial order of two seasons for this One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest prequel series—and season 1 came out all the way back in 2020. So, what about season 2? Let's just say, it ain't happening.
RENEWED: Rana Naidu
The Indian Hindi-language adaptation of the great Showtime series Ray Donovan, Rana Naidu, will be coming back for season 2.
CANCELED: Obliterated
It launched in November of 2023 and by February of 2024, Obliterated was canceled.
RENEWED: The Sandman
You're not dreaming—The Sandman was renewed for a second season.
CANCELED: Dead Boy Detectives
While it's set in the same vein as The Sandman, these two shows have one thing very much not in common—unlike The Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives is canceled.
